Why should I have my carpets cleaned? To create a healthy indoor environment. Carpet is the filter of the house and collects dust mites, dust, bacteria, and thousands of other microorganisms. It also adds to the appearance of the home, as well as increases the life expectancy when cleaned properly.
What is the difference between wet cleaning method versus dry cleaning method? Wet cleaning is more thorough as the entire yarn is cleaned. Soil and cleaning solutions are removed by high-powered vacuum extraction. It is the preferred method as well as recommended by manufacturers. Dry cleaning is a maintenance method of cleaning. A dry cleaning solution is applied to the top of the yarn. A cotton bonnet is utilized to remove the soil. It is not extracted and only the top of the yarn is cleaned.
Hot water extraction, when properly performed, is the most beneficial for your carpet and is recommended by every major carpet mill. Ultra Clean uses the tested and approved cleaning system that is low moisture, low pH, residue-free and quick drying.
How long does it take for my carpets to dry? Normally 3-6 hours, but can take up to 12 hours depending on humidity and temperature.
How often should I have my carpets professionally cleaned? It depends on many factors such as number of occupants, pets, kids, traffic, etc. Carpet should be professionally cleaned every 6-12 months. Cleaning will not effect the carpet's life expectancy, in fact, frequent vacuuming and periodic professional cleaning can triple the carpet's life expectancy.
How often should I vacuum my carpets? Vacuum your carpet at least once a week using a vacuum with an agitating brush. Heavy traffic areas should be vacuumed more often. Make sure your brush is adjusted at the proper setting for your carpet style. Be sure to use a special crevice tool to vacuum edges at least twice a month.
I have a food spill, what should I do next? When a spill occurs, stay calm. Most spots and spills can be removed easily. If the spill or spot is semi-solid, like a bowl of ice cream, first use a large spoon and gently scoop up towards the center of the spill removing as much as you can. Then using some dry folded towels, place on spot and press down with your hand or foot, always using a dry portion of the towel to absorb as much of the spill into the towel as you can. Never rub or scrub. This can spread the spot and ruin the carpet texture. Next, use a small spray bottle using a non-bleach laundry detergent (1 teaspoon to 1 quart of warm (not hot) water), or you can use our spot remover, Avenge™. Spray on spot and let set for five minutes.
Then using clean white dry towels, blot up the moisture. If the spot remains, repeat the process. Be sure to absorb as much excess moisture as possible.
If you can't remove a spot with Avenge™, you will not have the ability to remove it. Call us before you set it in for further instructions.
